[Mailer sent to Delegates and Alternates April 3, 2025]
Dear CD 8 Republicans,
My name is Andy Aplikowski and I humbly ask for your vote as CD8 State Vice Chair.
Keri Heintzman has announced she is not seeking re-election, so this is an open seat. The CD8 State Vice Chair not only sits on the CD8 Executive Board, but he or she also sits on the MNGOP State Executive Committee. The MNGOP Executive Committee oversees the State Party Officers, approves the State Party’s budget, and “shall have charge of the administration of Party affairs.”
In my announcement email on March 21st I included my resume with both my political and professional qualifications and experience. If you missed it, you can see it at: AndyforMN.com.
I was MNGOP Political Director under David Hann, and I’d like to share my perspective. After the 2022 Precinct Caucus data disaster, I reached out to David to offer the State Party my help. The person responsible for Caucus had resigned, so they brought me on to try to salvage the BPOU/CD and state conventions. Many people doubted that the 2022 election cycle could be saved.
I don’t believe in no-win situations. A lot of people were rooting for the party, and me, to fail so they could move straight to a Primary, but I persisted. I worked long, hard days and put my experience and expertise with data to good use. I fixed the Caucus data, navigated redistricting, oversaw BPOU/CD conventions, and managed the state convention where we successfully endorsed in all 4 statewide races. All in just four months!
After the 2022 election cycle, I began to find myself at odds with many of David Hann’s decisions. I’d known him for years and considered him a friend, so I tried to stay to continue to rebuild the political department and support the grassroots. But in the summer of 2023, I could no longer agree with and support all of the decisions being made at Party HQ. After Hann hired a new Executive Director who wanted to tear the political department and me apart, I resigned. In the December 2024 State Central meeting, I helped guide the body from the floor to elect Alex Plechash.
Looking forward, to 2026… Republicans know that our party is in trouble in Minnesota. We haven’t won a statewide race since 2006. We’ve come close, but as they say, “close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.” I want to make sure that the party operations, staff, and leaders are the reason candidates WIN their next election.
Why I am the right person for CD8 State Vice Chair/MNGOP Executive Committee
Integrity – We must have transparent leadership that is willing to do the work that needs to be done and do it the way it should be done.
Courage – We need strong messaging that pushes back against the democrat narratives in the mainstream media, and leaders who aren’t afraid to try something new while standing up for our principles. I’ve done it before and I will hold the current leaders accountable if needed.
Experience – We need leaders who have been on the ballot, on the phones, knocked on doors, managed mail programs, and organized digital media campaigns to elevate both CD8 and the State Party operations. A bonus is that I previously served on State Exec from 2014 to 2016 so I can hit the ground running, if elected by CD8.
That’s why I am asking for your support. I will always do the right thing for the Party. You can trust my word. I am not afraid to hold Democrats or Republicans accountable, and stand up to self-serving interests in our own ranks. More importantly, I have experience with the State Party from both the grassroots level and staffing side to know what needs to be done. I have the personal and professional experience to be a valuable resource for CD8 and our State Party.
I’m asking for your vote and hope to connect with you before the convention during my evening delegate calls. I do work full time defending Life from conception to death as the Executive Director of the nonprofit
ministry, Human Life Alliance. I am also the primary caregiver to my 90-year-old mother, Beverly.
I may not reach you, but I do want to hear from you! Contact me by text/voice at 612-916-3232, or by email anytime at: andyaplikowski@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you and God Bless,
Andy Aplikowski
